Robot soccer, also known as RoboCup, is a fascinating fusion of robotics and sports where autonomous robots compete against each other in a soccer match.
Rules & Regulations

- Time: 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM
General Instructions:
- Team Formation:
- Each team will consist of a maximum of 4 members. The team leader of each team will be responsible for all activities of that team.
- A maximum of 2 members can enter the arena during the match.
- Team members must be from AIUB.
- Student Validity:
- The participants must be current undergraduate students of AIUB.
- Proof of Verification:
- Participants must bring their respective Student IDs for verification purposes.
- Game Rules:
- Two teams will face each other in every match.
- If no team can secure a goal, then the winner will be the team whose possession is more.
- If 2 bots stack for more than 5 seconds, re-center and start the match.
- If there is draw in semi-final, quarter-final, and final matches, each team gets 3 penalty kicks.
- In the 5 minute matches, there will be a 1-minute break.
1. Side change after half time.
2. Bots can fix existing issues during the break but cannot add new features. - Blocking the ball for more than 3/4 seconds results in negative points.Re-center and restart the match.
- In any circumstances, the Referee’s decision will be considered as final decision.
- Duration:
- Each match duration will be 5 minutes.
- Constraints:
- The substitution of robots during the competition within the team or with other teams is forbidden.
- Any kind of harmful tools both opponent and arena are prohibited.
- Any kind of robot that catches/grabs objects is strictly prohibited.
- Brackets can be used. Dimension: Maximum length = 5 cm, Maximum Width = 10 cm. Brackets should be made with hard surfaces, any type of soft surface like cloth or felt can’t be used.
- Each team can bring more than one bot. But only one bot can play at one match.
- The bot can be controlled by any wireless device. No wired communication is allowed.
- Each team should have two robots for the full tournament.
- The bot can be powered by a maximum of 24 volts.
- Dimension: Maximum length = 20 cm, maximum width = 20 cm (without wheel) & 25 cm (with wheel).
- Maximum weight = 3 kg.
- The robot must not emit infrared light. However, optical sensors (e.g. infrared-distance-sensors) may be used if they do not affect other robots.
- The bot will be semi-autonomous or manual.
